bugs, bugs, and more bugs!

Living in Utah and now especially living in Layton Utah I felt it was about time for me to see what this Antelope Island was all about!  My mom invited Kinsey and I to go with her last Saturday so we finally went with her, Rob, and Mason.  The drive out there was so pretty! I loved having the water on both sides as we drove to the island :) 

We decided to go to the visitor center first to see what was there and let me just start off by saying my mom is NOT a bug or insect person.. She freaks out over a potato bug lol and when a bee is around you, she makes you feel like you have a SWARM of bees attacking you haha Well we were just walking around and my mom saw a huge (seriously huge) spider on the floor.  She freaked and wouldnt even let Kinsey be in a 20 foot radius of it haha it was funny! 

Then we drove to the beach to stick our feet in the Salt Lake.  I knew there would be bugs there but holy smokes!!! there were so many flies it looked like the sand was black near the water lol  Then the wind would blow and they would all move in what looked like a wave of flies.  That didnt stop me though, I wanted to get in the water haha and guess what, my mom did too!  It took us a little bit to just ignore the flies but when we did it was nice and refreshing to cool off in the cold water :)  Kinsey loved it so much she decided to sit down and just play! (she got a nice scrub down as soon as we got home!)  When Kinsey and I were walking around in the water I looked down and noticed her toes were buried in the sand, so I asked her "Kins, where are your toes?"  She looked down and went into a full blown panic and practically crawled up my leg because she couldnt see her toes haha I felt bad!

Next we had to go see the bison and when we drove to the corrals we noticed they were no where to be found.. There had been a HUGE fire there a few days prior so they had to relocate all of them to different parts of the island.  But we soon found them down by the fresh water :)  It was a great time and I will be going back just so Kinsey can play in the water!
